Create a WhatsApp link with a pre-filled message
Whoever clicks lands straight in a chat with you, with the text already typed. No saving your contact, no copying your number.

Link destination
Fill in the fields to see the link.
When tapped, it opens a WhatsApp chat with you, with the message ready to send.
How it works
- Enter your number with the country code. Pick the country and type the rest, for example +1 (415) 555-0132 in the US or +44 7700 900123 in the UK. Leave out the trunk 0 that UK numbers use domestically.
- Write an opening message if you want. This is the text the person sees already typed. Start from a suggestion ("Saw your Instagram", "I'd like a quote") or write your own.
- Create, copy and test. You get a short CriarMeuLink address and a QR code. Open the link on your phone before sharing it to see exactly what a customer will see.
Behind the short link is WhatsApp's official format, wa.me/14155550132?text=..., with the message already encoded. You don't have to build anything by hand.
Where to use a WhatsApp link
Instagram and TikTok bio
The most common use. People who find your profile through a post or an ad want to ask about price, timing or availability. A link with the message "Hi, I found you on Instagram and I'd like to know more" answers that in one tap, and tells you where they came from.
Google Business Profile
You can put the link in the website field or in a post on your Business Profile. People searching for "phone repair near me" often prefer to send a message instead of calling.
Website and online store
A "Chat on WhatsApp" button on a product page, with a message that names the product ("I have a question about the 6-seat dining table"), saves a round of messages and shows the seller what the customer was looking at.
Menus, business cards and shop windows
Print the link's QR code. A restaurant taking orders on WhatsApp, a contractor's business card, a poster on the shop door: point the camera and the chat opens.
Ads, email and signatures
In Facebook and Instagram ads, in the footer of a newsletter or in your email signature. A short link looks safer to click than a long address full of %20.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need WhatsApp Business to create a link?
No. The link works with both regular WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business because it uses WhatsApp's own click to chat feature. The number only has to be active on WhatsApp.
Does the link show my number to people who click?
Yes. Once the chat opens, the person sees your number, as in any WhatsApp chat. The link saves them typing or saving it; it does not hide it.
How do I add the link to my Instagram bio?
Copy the link, open Instagram, tap Edit profile, then Links and Add external link. Paste it, give it a title such as "WhatsApp" and save. It shows right under your bio.
Is the pre-filled message sent automatically?
No. The text appears in the message box and the person decides whether to send, edit or delete it. WhatsApp does not allow automatic sending.
I changed my number. Do I have to replace the link everywhere?
Not if you created the link with an account. Edit the destination in your dashboard and the same address opens the new number, including on QR codes you already printed. Links created without an account cannot be edited.
Why does WhatsApp say "phone number shared via url is invalid"?
WhatsApp shows that when the number has no WhatsApp account or was entered without the country code. A US number must start with 1 and a UK mobile with 44, without the leading 0.
Can I create a link to a WhatsApp group?
Groups have their own invite link, created inside WhatsApp under Group info, Invite via link. CriarMeuLink creates links to a chat with one number.
Good practice
- Make the message say where people came from. Create one link for your bio, another for the printed menu and another for an ad, each with its own message ("Saw your menu", "Saw your ad"). You know the source from the first message.
- Keep it short and in the visitor's voice. "Hi, I'd like a quote for painting" works better than a paragraph. People need to recognise themselves in the text before they press send.
- Set expectations. The link opens the chat; you still have to answer. If you only reply during business hours, say so in your bio or set an away message in WhatsApp Business.
- Test from a phone that isn't yours. From your own number, WhatsApp opens a chat "with yourself", which is confusing. Ask someone else to try it.
- Use an account if the link will be printed. With an account you can change the number later, pause the link and see clicks per day, city and source.
The link format, if you are curious
WhatsApp accepts links like https://wa.me/NUMBER?text=MESSAGE. The number goes in international format, digits only: 14155550132, or 447700900123 in the UK. The message must be URL-encoded (a space becomes %20, a line break %0A). One typo and the link stops working, which is why it is worth generating it with a tool and testing it before you share it.
